performance, durational

I AM TRULY BECOMING A SPECTER is based on a research on the tremors that the solid triggers in us.

With reference to Jacques Derrida, the monstrous we assume to reside inside the rock is addressed with linguistic monsters. The performance is an invitation to enter the space between subject and object and thereby, as Roland Barthes attests, to become true specters.

Solid rocks effectively barricade any way of announcing the realities that lurk inside of them. As we attempt to conquer them with eager tools to cleave towards their core, as we try to turn the monsters we imagine to dwell inside of them into pets, by breaking open the surface and take a look at the inside, those monsters creep down deeper into their residence and refuse to present themselves. What used to be interior now turns into yet another surface that shelters whatever dwells beneath. Solidity, thus, forces us into the perspective from the outside and carefully protects the secrets of its inside.

If nothing physical can dwell inside the solid block, only something metaphysical can. Something radically other has to dwell at the place that we cannot conquer with our gaze.
What is unimaginable has to be filled with imagination. Since we cannot experience what it is to dwell within solidity ourselves, we make up monsters – or spirits – that do it for us. It is reality that remains incomprehensible. It is the non-living that exceeds all spatiotemporal presence of life. Rocks linger on motionless as live passes by.

I end up in      :chaos
I decide for            :chaos
I indulge in                  :chaos
Imagine:    Chaos!
Zu dumm to find chaos
Zu dumm to understand
Zu dumm to simply exist
Πάρα πολύ ανθρώπινο
Too. Little. Matter.

I will end.
You will: so much later.
That’s why you are less than a corpse.
Making matter making sense.
